This was going to be a celebration of Summer Solstice for tomorrow’s Solstice Eve. But a friend has just sent me a news article about the damage to Stonehenge by the group “just stop oil”. They sprayed orange paint across the stones. To say I’m upset is not enough. I’m angry and I’m sad. Would they do this to Westminster Abbey or York cathedral? Stonehenge for me and many , many other people is far more than just a group of stones. It’s a place of pilgrimage , it’s a place of worship and has been for millennia.
They timed it for maximum publicity and shock.
How did they get there? Did they walk or use a vehicle powered by petrol? Are their clothes home made? Natural fibres top to toe? Is the food they eat carried by hand from source? Or is it brought by wagon, using fuel?
Do those things not matter?
That's just so wrong and disgusting! UGH!!!!!!
What is the point of desecrating Stonehenge? It has absolutely nothing to do with their so called cause. The only point and it's not a good one is for it to say "hey look at us".
Doing what they did would not make or encourage me to support them in any way. I cannot see the point of destroying or damaging something that has nothing to do with any of it. Or just doing damage in general, regardless of the point you might be trying to make.
To answer your question, yeah I think they would. This group has zero respect for anything, and care only about their own limited view of the way things out to be. Pathetic.
